What does this mean for me?
Enrollment at Bromley Brook all girls boarding school means that
you are a girl who recognizes that some things need to change
if you are to graduate from high-school and go on to college.
Bromley Brook School is a boarding school for girls, which means that you will live here on campus, sharing a dorm with other girls who have come to the same realization. You will attend classes, participate in outdoor recreation and become a valuable member of our community. We are sure it might not always be fun because change can be tough, but it will always be supportive and confirming of your unique gifts and talents.
Will I be able to see my siblings, communicate with them?
Students make weekly phone calls home to speak with family members. They will also send and receive traditional mail and email messages. It is not our intention to isolate you from your family, as they are your greatest source of support.
Will I be able to see my friends, communicate with them?
Often when girls come to Bromley Brook all girls boarding
school, they have been involved in risky behaviors with their friends. There will be a time when communication with friends will be restricted. This will last until you, your family and the Bromley Brook all girl boarding school staff believe that you are able to participate in friendships based on your new
self-awareness and understanding of relationship dynamics.
Will I make new friends?
Absolutely! Bromley Brook girls are chosen, partly on their desire to be an active member of our community. You will have many opportunities to participate in peak experiences with other students that will lead to friendships based on honesty, respect and shared enthusiasm for personal growth.
What is school like?
Bromley Brook School is specifically designed for girls. The days are structured and weekdays include physical exercise in the morning, academic classes throughout the day, evening study time or activities. Weekends include intensive art seminars, guest speakers, outdoor recreation like skiing, hiking, or sports, community service projects, and personal quiet time. You will know what is happening throughout the week as events are scheduled and posted. You will also have the opportunity to provide suggestions for things you would like to see happen in the evenings and during the weekend. This is your school and we want you to contribute ideas and suggestions for making our "free time" fun.
What is dorm life like?
Student dorms consist of a bedroom and bathroom, to be shared with up to three other students. This space becomes the girls' "home away from home" with each student taking responsibility for keeping their surroundings and personal belongings orderly. Dorms are organized such that they form a "house" of approximately 32 students with a common area at the end of the hall. Each house is assigned an adult supervisor, coaching and night staff to maintain safety and monitor behavior in the dorms. There are basic dorm agreements that help to ensure all students live in an environment that is emotionally and physically safe.
How will this help me?
There is an artist who painted a picture called Flying Woman that includes a quote that says, "For a long time she flew, only when she thought no one else was watching." There isn't a woman working at Bromley Brook that doesn't understand what that means. Not only do we want to watch you fly, we want to watch you fly in the direction of your dreams. Most of the girls who enroll at Bromley Brook will have experienced some kind of challenge that has kept them from feeling like they were capable of being successful academically. Their self-esteem has become damaged and they doubt their own abilities. Bromley Brook School is a place where you can discover a love of learning and develop a realistic plan for your future.
When can I go home and see my friends?
Students at Bromley Brook are able to have home visits during winter, spring, and summer breaks based on their participation in the community and individual learning program plan. While at home, students are encouraged to spend quality time with their families first. Time with friends will be discussed with each student, family and staff to determine what is best for each individual.
